Week 9
This week’s movie, Moonlight, is one of my favorite movies. Because everyone in this movie is getting better and better. Chiron’s mother went to the drug rehabilitation center, Kevin became a chef and liked his life very much. Although Chiron experienced a lot of school violence, he ended up with a kind and soft heart. What makes me think that this movie shines is that Chiron has grown into a very tall and strong person who seems a bit "fierce" in my opinion. When facing Kevin, he still shows his fragile side. The last scene of the movie really left me with endless aftertastes. In the end, Chiron and Kevin finally faced each other's hearts frankly, leaning together without words.
A passage I liked very much, "running around, catching up all that light. In moonlight, black boys look blue. You blue." This passage is very artistic and reminds me of a very beautiful picture. This movie is different from other movies of similar themes. Although it tells the story of a black homosexual, it does not show the general negative impacts that were taken by the three labels of "black, homosexual, and drugs" to a large extent. That's why I like this movie so much. There is no "bitterness and deep hatred", only delicate feelings and relationships.
